Course Description:
This session will discuss the practical ways a dental hygienist can include special needs patients into the general dental practice. Barriers and suggested actions will be discussed, along with the benefits to the special needs patients, the practice and the practitioner, and especially the dental hygienist.

Objectives:

• Discuss concept and value of “Special Needs Patients” in your practice.
• Identify practical ways to modify treatment in offering care to special needs patients.
• Identify barriers to care for special needs patients and suggest ways to address these barriers.
